Come Dance with Me

My Family - L to R: Aunt Peggy, Mom, Dad, Tony

Uncle Gene and I am in the front

I grew up with my Dad's family in North Carolina. We would go and visit about every summer. Some years we stayed at the beach with Uncle Gene and Aunt Peggy in what my young eyes saw as a big house (it wasn't that big) filled with love and laughter. Oh, how I want my kids to know that feeling. We would spend evenings on the deck with the "boombox" listening to the oldies and the waves roll in. Uncle Gene would bug and bug me until he would get me to dance (kind of) with him. Believe it or not I could be shy. It is a precious memory that was brought to the surface as I heard one of the Drifter's songs today. I hope that my children will have these memories as they grow older.

Here's to hoping that the next generation will get to hear the oldies and dance on the deck this summer.
